Ynys Faig Farm

Dolphin pods, dragon’s teeth and secret lakes where the river meets the sea… join the folk at Ynys Faig Farm, five minutes’ amble from Fairbourne. The local railway station and village shops are a couple of minutes’ walk away.

Small sorts will probably excitedly ask about the dragon’s teeth first: these are on the sands at Fairbourne and are tank traps laid out in World War II to thwart enemy invasion. You’ll find a friendlier welcome these days, with two dog-walking areas and two pubs in the village both serving food.

Kids will likely be chuffed at the thought of a vintage train ride too, so take them on the narrow-gauge railway from Fairbourne up to Penryhn Point, where the Mawddach estuary meets the Irish Sea

This peaceful place on the Gwynedd coast is a small and friendly family-run site with a limited number of pitches to keep everything peaceful and spacious; it’s regularly hailed by visitors for its friendly vibe and scenically hilly backdrop, as well as its modern amenities of toilets, hot showers and a washing-up area. The pitching part of the site is divided into hedged sections, for both privacy and protection during windy weather.

The Location

We are a small friendly family site situated in the small coastal village of Fairbourne on the northwest coast of Wales, just five short minutes walk from the beautiful Cardigan Bay.
Although small Fairbourne has a good range of local shops including an excellent fish and chip shop a number of small grocery shops provide everything you may need from the charcoal for the barbie to a cold beer or bottle of chilled wine to relax with at the end of your day.

Fairbourne is also fortunate to home the very excellent and highly acclaimed ‘Indiana’ Indian restaurant booking is advisable as this little gem is always very busy.
No visit to Fairbourne would be complete without a trip along the coast on Fairbourne’s long-standing miniature railway which connects to the ferry across the lovely Mawddach estuary to Barmouth for a bit of retail therapy.
For the golfers, a round of golf at The Fairbourne Golf club is a must and for spectators, the clubhouse is available for refreshments and relaxation.

Just returned home from 4 nights camping at Ynys Faig, what a lovely site! The owner couldn't have been more kind and helpful, on our arrival he met us and showed us 2 pitches to chose from. On our first night we had high winds and the pegs on our tent kept popping out, the owner of the site came to the rescue and lent us some heavy duty pegs that did the job and kept the tent nice and secure. Shower block was nice and clean, with plenty of hot water. We will definitely be returning to Ynys Faig in the future! I highly recommend it.

Loved this campsite. So relaxing. Facilities basic but very clean. Supermarket and cafes a couple of minutes walk away, short walk to beach. Railway station next door for trains to Barmouth, Phwilelli, etc. Would definitely stay here again.

We had the best time, weather could have been better but the location and super friendly Campsite made up for it. VERY dog friendly, our boy was in his element. Beautiful beach, also dog friendly, just look for the sign to know what part of the beach you can let your dog off lead. Fantastic location for train to Barmouth or if you like walking you can take the scenic walk across the Estuary bridge. You can also take the miniature steam train along the coast to catch the wonderful Ferry, we did all of them over our stay, just beautiful. Special thanks to Neil who was the most amazing host, we'll be back !
